Hi Wannabe!

For a comparison of the different low carb plans out there, see this link: http://www.lowcarb.ca/atkins-diet-a...lans/index.html

If by Mayo Clinic Diet, you mean that cabbage soup diet that was so popular many years ago, that's less of a low carb diet and more of a very low calorie diet (VLCD) that is also fairly low in fat (can we say hungry all the time?).

HTH!

Mayo Clinic Diet (some people refer to as grapefruit diet)

Breakfast:

2 eggs (cooked anyway)
2 pcs bacon
1/2 grapefruit or 1 glass of grapefruit juice

Lunch:
Salad (anyway you like it)
1/2 grapefruit or 1 glass of gapefruit juice

Dinner:
any meat, poultry or fish
any vegetable(no potatoes)
1/2 grapefruit or 1 glass of grapefruit juice

you are allowed to eat as much as you want at lunch and dinner in fact it says the more you eat the more you loose, but those are the only times you can eat absolutely NO SNACKING. You do this for 12 days and for 2 days you can eat whatever you want!

Never made it for 12 days!!!!

Probably all the carbs from the grapefruit and the juice would set of carb cravings and hunger pains. If you did that plan without any fruit and a multivitamin it would be much more effective and you wouldn't be so hungry.

Be sure to add meat at lunch and make sure your vegetables are low carb ones. Use full-fat salad dressing with low carbs.
