Default Fiber supplement affect insulin rise?

I was wondering if one was to ingest a dose of fiber with a high glycemic food, would that somewhat decrease the amount of insulin produced? Just wondering, because isn't a fibrous shell the only difference between white and whole foods? eg: rice, or whole wheat flour

Meg, I'd think that the fiber would effect how much and how quickly insulin would rise - fiber will keep the food in the gut longer and slow it's absorption.

As for the difference between brown / white rice etc, I think there's also a nutrion factor there. The white stuff has a lot of the vitamins and minerals removed, doesn't it?
