Default Drinks and weight loss?

I had about 4 vodkas and club soda last night. I got on the scale today and it was a 3 lbs loss. Does the alchool made you lose water, therefore showing a weight loss? Should I count that as a loss or should I wait a few days to re-hydrate myself. I'm not sure what alchool does to your system.

Thanks for listening.

Alcohol gets burned first, so there is no fat loss when you drink. If I have a few drinks, I'm usually heavier the next day since I'm retaining water. I start losing again a couple of days later, when I'm more hydrated.

Actually, alcohol DOES dehydrate you. When you drink too much, and have a headache, that's mainly from dehydration. Think of the effect rubbing alcohol has on your skin. It does that to the body also.

I'd really hydrate and take vitamins and wait a day or two to weigh again.

It's because of dehydration from alcohol that, if I've been drinking in the evening, I drink a lot of water before I go to bed and keep a bottle of water at my bedside during the night if I need it. I've found that I don't get headaches this way and it puts my system back towards normalcy much quicker.

Thanks guys for your advice.

I was ready to count that as a loss. I've been doing very good on Adkins. Today, lots of water and vitamins are a daily habit. We'll see in the next few days.

Have a happy low carb weekend.
