subtract fiber grams from carb grams?

Hello everyone! I am a newbie trying the Atkins program. Can I subtract the fiber grams from the carbo grams in my carb counts? I can't find this in the book. Thanks for any info you can provide!

Yes, you can subtract fiber from the carb count to get a net "effective carb" count. Other plans advocate this practice and I think Atkins advises it on his website, although it's not in his books.
