Default Why do Atkins low carb bars contain 20g carbs? LOL.

I was in the supermarket and saw Atkins advantage low carbs bars and I was like cool, a low carb snack, then I checked the carb content and 20g per bar? Man, might as well eat a butterfinger or something

The Atkins Advantage bars contain maltitol and glycerine. Both substances are 'believed' not to affect insulin levels. So they don't count their carbs as 'carbs'. The Effective Carb Count (all the other carbs except maltitol and glycerine) is only 2 carbs.

That may very well be true about the 2 ingredients. However, many people find that they stall when they eat the bars. It really is something that you have to try out for yourself. Some people can eat them and still lose steadily.

So there may be 20 gm of carbs really, but 18 of them are considered not to affect a person's insulin, and should not put one out of ketosis.

Hope this helps.

Default won't put you out of ketosis

Unfortunately they WILL put you in the bathroom for extended periods of time. Beware!
