The advertising is really intrusive....I can't stand coming here anymore because I have to sit through the Atkins animation first. And it comes up at unexpected times, such as when I am trying to login or browse. Since I am already on Atkins and am buying Atkins products, this advertising is kind of counterproductive. I can live with banner ads, but if I can't use the forum and read content without being visually assulted, then I am going to be totally turned off. Is there any way to turn the ADs off?

We don't usually allow such media-rich ads and popups. However, this is an exceptional case where it is run by the Atkins Center, and we welcome this chance to publicize their site, not to mention their sponsorship opportunity to help pay for our cost running this site. The majority here follow Atkins, however, not many are familiar with their site's content.

We reject many sponsorship opportunities, if they do not agree with our focus and message, so this one is a welcome change.

Wa'il the one thing I have noticed most recently with the new ad is that it takes control.

If I am responding to a post, if/when that ad decides to run, it suspends all typing until you refocus what you were doing under it or it finishes running. (clicking back on the response post).

That is probably the only thing I don't like about it. It becomes a nuisance of itself about the 8th time in a row it runs.

Hmm, does it allow you to minimize the new window or close it? I use Netscape, and these popup ads won't show up on Netscape browsers.

I've not found a way to minimize or close the ad, other than finding a link to click on to go to the next page. But it covers over half of the page I'm currently looking at. It should at least set a cookie or something so it knows it's already annoyed the heck out of me once that day.
