Default Trying A New Approach to Stave Off Boredom

I am going through a tough time right now - trying to from boredom on this WOE. I've come a long way and do not want to be derailed by this. I have lots of recipes so that has helped a lot so far......

I've continued to read and do research. On the Atkins site, a poster mentioned having trouble staying in ketosis. The suggestion given on that website was to cut out high glycemic veggies such as tomatoes and onions. Key words: high glycemic.

This suggests to me that there is a relationship between the kind of carbs you eat and remaining in ketosis.

That said, there are some foods that show up very low on the GI and ( I think) GL tables - such as chana dal legumes and certain fruits.

I am thinking of experimenting with some of these very low GI/GL foods and then watching for how they effect ketosis.

Before doing this - if anyone else here has tried this - I would really appreciate knowing how it worked for you.

Thanks, barefoot

I watch both carbs and the glycemic index for the foods I eat and the strategy has been successful for me. I've been following this way of eating for almost six months and have lost about 50 pounds. I occasionally (once or twice a month) eat wheat products, but only if they are 100 percent whole wheat and therefore lower on the glycemic index than white flour products. I eat one or two servings of low glycemic fruits a day. I occasionally (about once a month) eat a sweet potato, but I never eat white potatoes (much higher on the glycemic index). I think it is the foods that are high on both the carbohydrate index and the glycemic index that are really deadly -- white flour, white sugar, white potatoes, etc.
