Default What if I go a tad bit over 20g??

I'm on day 4 of induction, today I accidently went over by 3g. Does that mean my body will not be in ketosis anymore??? I'm worried now and I feel like I'm going to gain a ton of weight. Help!!

Elly

Deep breath, Elly

First, are you subtracting the fiber from your carb counts? If you eat something that has 4g of carbs but 2 of those grams are from fiber the food only has 2 'real' or 'effective' carbs. Fiber is a carb, it is not digestible to humans though. If you weren't subtracting the fiber from your foods it's more likely than not you didnt go over 20 grams.

Second, one or two grams over Induction level carbs once in a while during the 2 weeks is not the end of your LC life. It's the big picture that matters. Don't stress over it (stress is worse for your fat loss than 2 extra carbs!).

Third, everyone has a different level for losing (this is the CCLL that Atkins talks about). After your 2 weeks of induction, it would be a good idea to find out what yours is. By increasing carbs 5g a week you'll find the magic number where you are no longer losing. This will give you a margin of error, and something to focus in on when it comes time to slow the fat loss down as you approach Maintenance.

So, deep breath, no stressing, deduct fiber and enjoy!
Nat
