Smile Induction success

Hi everyone

A couple of weeks ago I switched from the Zone to Atkins. While I had felt much better doing the zone ( more energy, more positive outlook etc) I wasn't losing much weight. Between 23 March and 1 July (10 weeks) I lost 13 pounds.

The more I read about low-carbing on this forum the more I became convinced I could get better results with a lower carb regime and Atkins had the most appeal.

I started 1 July 213.4 pounds and finished induction two weeks later on 15 July 201 pounds !!! Fantastic...I can't believe how easy it has been. I haven't eated so much food in years! I have started increasing my carbs to to 25 - 30 gms. I will try and wait until Saturday to weigh myself ( I was weighing myself every second day during induction) but am pretty sure I am still losing weight. Even my thighs look a bit smaller . My next big goal is to get under that 200 pound mark SOON.

Thank you all for your inspiration, ideas and personal stories.

I just know that this time i'm going to get to my goal and stay there.

biblionz that is great on your loss so far. congrats!

Now for the reality check Your weight loss will taper off, and when it does don't think you are doing anything wrong or the diet isn't working. You body does tend to take time off now and then to readjust itself.

I personally stalled out for 8 months. But I stuck with the plan and started losing again just not as fast. It is recommended you not lose more than 2 pounds a week, any faster than that and you are probably tearing down lean muscle tissue over fat burning which will in turn slow your metobolism.

Congrats again on your progress

Default thanks

Thanks Agonycat

Yes, I know that the weight loss will slow down- I think I would feel a bit strange if it kept coming off at that rate. I need time to adjust to my new body. I'm happy to to lose at 1-2 pounds a week. When I was on low fat diets I found that it could take me a month to lose 1-2 pounds. Even losing nothing /maintaining is better that going back up to my old weight.

I think you are very determinded to keep going with a stall lasting 8 months. But it isn't just about weight is it ? I have so much more energy, am less bloated and my skin and hair are not as dry has they used to be. All great benefits.

Thanks again for your support

Default Fantastic results

I am so pleased for you to have done so well! Agonycat is right that things will slow down and I am pleased to see you are prepared for that. Yes, all of the other benefits are what keeps some of us going when the weight loss is not happening.

You know....

I would REALLY like to know why so many doctors are against a plan they know NOTHING about.

I mean next time you mention Atkin's to you doctor, ask them point blank what they think the diet is. If they start out by saying all that protein and fat isn't good for you then you know damned well they have no clue.

I mean after all, we eat 3 cups of salad a day and VEGGIES plus fruit!
