Default Coffee

Hi,

I am following the atkins diet and have been drinking coffee every morning (about 2 cups with heavy cream). I was wondering if anyone else is doing atkins and also drinking coffee. In the atkins book it states that coffee is not allowed on the diet (at least in induction) but I read on another site that moderate coffee consumption dosen't really hinder weight loss. I was just wondering what others experiences have been.

Thumbs down Caffiene does hinder

Caffiene (also found in a lot of canned drinks) does hinder. During Induction is is best to keep off it - the whole idea of induction is to free yourself from the addictions.

I do drink coffee but now find I can take it or leave it. I'll drink it if I haven't had enough sleep and need to keep awake. I don't drink it on a regular daily basis.

I drink tea but am trying to cut down on that too.
Take care.

I never stopped drinking it but found I naturally cut back and only have a couple of cups a day, 3 at most.
I only have about 1 cup of tea now as I now realise I really only drank so much of the stuff before to wash down the cookies that made up 50% of my diet
I drank coffee during induction too and lost 22 pound the first two weeks and 6 the following two.
Since then havnt lost much but dont think I an blame the coffee.
Think I increased my carbs too much. I am actually happier at a lower level and find it easier to stick to so have just cut back again.

Id say see how you go and if you are a slow loser try cutting it and then you will know if it makes a difference.

I cut back of coffee before I started low carbing, but have never cut it out completly. I drink a maximum of 3 cups a day and now take it black. I've learn't to enjoy water and also herbal type teas.

I'm also a very slow looser, but don't think caffiene is the problem here.

Don't drink too much, in whatever form, and if the weight does not drop off for a while then try cutting it out completely.
