I've done Atkins and lost about 25lbs. I "feel off" the wagon back in April. I was ok at first, didn't really gain too much, but lost it mid summer and starting eating LOTS of carbs, thinking "well, I'm going back on Low Carb real soon now, but since I'm 'off low carb' I may as well enjoy
this and
this and
this...."
I just started reading CAD. I'm amazed that this book describes me to a T. I've
alwaysbeen hungry again 2 hours (or sooner) after a meal...except for when I was about 7 years old and still thin (though I did drink a lot of apple and grape juice, as that was one of the few things I was allowed access to between meals at that age). Also, when I eat carbs, I often can't seem to stop. I shovel in noodles, bread, cake, etc. It's like a binge. Fortunately I've been able to gain control of myself enough times to keep my weight at a "slightly overweight" status, but for my Height (5'5") I really should be like 125-135lbs.
Anyhow - I'm still reading.
I guess my question is does this really work?? For regular people, not just people that make it into books as success stories. After being schooled in Atkins, South Beech, Dr. Bernstein, Protein Power, etc, it's hard to talk yourself into thinking you will be ok with a "reward meal" with lots of carbs? (this brings you out of ketosis, which means fat is being stored, which means end of weight loss until you get in ketosis again).
*But* I figure I keep "failing" anyway to stay on "regular" low carb. Sure can't hurt to try this out - I feel I'd be less CRAZY if I knew that I could have something "good" every day, even if only at one meal. That would simplify eating out, or when mother brings a cake over (I can say, ok, I'll have a slice at dinner), etc..... It would take the whole "all or nothing" out of my daily eating.
But, I'm skeptical. So any "success stories" - even just popping in to say "yes it worked for me" so I can see your stats, would be encouraging.
