Question Atkins/lettuce

Can someone please help?
I am confused. Why are we only allowed to have three cups of lettuce on induction? If a cup is under two grams of carbs and we are allowed to have twenty carbs a day?

hi Jennifer

You've misinterpreted the Induction list

You are permitted 3 cups of SALAD, or 2 cups of salad plus 2/3 cup cooked low-carb veggie.

Look at the lists of allowed salad veggies in the Induction chapter. There's more than just lettuce .. there's all types of lettuce of course, plus radishes, cucumbers, spinach, mushrooms, bok choy, olives, tomatoes, green onions, celery .. etc .. anything that tastes good raw in a salad .. just remember to account for the carbs .. tomatoes are not unlimited

For the cooked veggie .. have asparagus, broccoli, spinach, green beans .. you get the idea.

Also bear in mind that you are suppose to limit your carbs to 20g total on induction. Veges are not the only items allowed that contain carbs. I suggest you use www.fitday.com to track your foods.

Exclamation re induction/lettuce

I'm sorry...i guess I didnt phrase my question correctly..let me try again... ....I know that I can have other vegetables, its just that i prefer to have the lettuce. I like to eat it with my meat. So, if i am monitoring my food intake dailey, and i have carbs to spare, can i have more than three cups of lettuce a day?
Thanks and sorry for the confustion
