Unhappy I need help

I've been on the Atkins diet since January and I'm finding it impossible to loose weight. I started off well then I yo-yoed for a month or two now the only way I loose weight is by eating carbs for two days and then start with the induction diet again and I might loose 3lbs in 2 weeks, my husband has lost nearly 28lbs in the same time!

I exercise like mad, I stick to 20g a day and I put weight on! I need someone to help me along, for moral support. My husbands a chef and he's never here to support me and he works with nothing but meat all day so he can stick to the diet quite well.

I must be doing something wrong, can anyone out there tell me what it is?

JULIA

Looks like you've already lost 10 pounds in 2 months. that's magnificent progress! Don't try to rush it. Your body will let go of it when it is ready. Slower is better for you overall. This is not a race.

Your body is going thru a lot of adjustments. It naturally pauses every once in a while to try ot figure out what is going on. don't worry about the 1-2 pound little ups and downs. It's probably a bit of water retention.

take a look at this post of mine from the beginning of the month showing my weight chart and all the little ups and downs that I had to deal with. The blip in the middle was Christmas! Maybe it will make you feel better. I've seen other people's charts, and read their stories, and the experiences are similar.

Do you really expect your progress to be all losses?

Also, if you haven't already started a journal here, then start one. Post what you eat every day, and how much. It will be easier for people to analyse it and make suggestions on little (or sometimes big) changes to make in what you eat.

And don't forget to drink your water. Drink 64 oz plus 8 oz for every 25 pounds overweight you are. Drink till you float, then drink more. It works. It works. It works.

In weight loss, dont compare yourself to a man--it will only make you either hate yourself or men (in jealousy)

Your weight loss is right on target though a little slower than some folks. Angela's advice is very good.

This is not a "diet" where "one little bite" does not count or matter. If it tosses you out of ketosis, you'll halt loss for 3 days or so. So two minor 'cheats' per week can stop loss dead in its tracks. Be meticulous--no gum, mints, or tastes.

That said, it's probably time for you to raise your carb level a bit--all as healthy green veggies (and maybe some berries now and then). Sometimes people who stall at 20 g will suddenly start losing at 30 or 40 g.

Finally, if you do indeed lose more slowly (it's too soon to tell, really), alter your expectations. If you are a slower loser, expect about 3 pounds a month loss from now on. Only weigh once a month (after TOM). Spend your mental energies not on frustration, but on devising and executing an exercise program that works for you, on volunteer work, on reading up on LC, on your favorite crafts.
Think through the long-term effect of several months on track--at 3 pounds a month, you'd still be 30 pounds lighter next New Year's Eve! A benefit of slower loss is that it gives you time to develop good habits that last a lifetime.

We have a forum on "turtles" and one on "stalls"--read through posts on both forums for more info.

HTH!

Default Hi Julia

I've been on Atkins since January too. The way that I lose weight on this has really been weird. The first week I lost 7lbs. The next week nothing. Then I lost 5 lbs. The next two weeks nothing. I was in ketosis the whole time and I could tell there were some really weird changes. Not bad changes just stuff that I wasn't aware would happen. So just hang in there. I'm here to tell you that I've fallen off the wagon and gotten back on in the last two weeks (guess I was feeling deprived around Valentine's Day) and I'm still losing. My DH is the same as yours, he can eat meat all day long and has no problem not eating bread. Said to me the other day he may never eat it again. Not me I have a taste now and then and keep track of the grams of carbs. But I have noticed I feel so much better without the carbs, so everytime I'm tempted I'm going to have to remember that.
