Hi, Joan. Congratulations for getting through that first week. It can be hard -- so good for you, for sticking with it.

Best of luck on the rest of your journey. I hope you'll post often so we can watch your progress

Welcome aboard and congrats on making through the first week - that is probably THE biggest hurdle and the one that MOST people that attempt LC don't make it over.

There are a few more to watch out for - the weight loss suddenly stops and stays stopped for a week or two or may even go up a bit. Then you get discouraged and quit. Don't let that happen to you. These are normal events and you need to develop faith that, in the long term, things will work out.

Looking forward to reading all about your success. Be sure to peruse the journals forum and consider starting your own.

Thanks Wbahn, your information was much needed. I am exercising and I am a big water drinker, however, I did read today on one of the messages that you should drink an extra cup of water for each 20 lbs. you needed to lose. I am not sure I have this right, but I ususally get a bit more than 64 ozs. of water in a day. Also how long have you been on the program and what has been your most difficulty?? I don't mean to be nosey I just am trying to learn. Thanks for your help and I will look into the journal. joan

The most common rule of thumb thrown around here is 64oz plus another 8oz for every 25 pounds overweight. That's very close to the rule you came across.

You should be drinking a minimum of 90 to 100 oz of water. It's really important that you drink enough water to flush the ketones and other residues out of your system.

As for my progress, I've been doing it for nearly four weeks and have lost a total of 17 pounds so far. You can go visit my journal in the My Journal / Bootcamp forum under T-Z.

I highly recommend starting your own, as well.
