Default cardio or weights?

I have been working out for quite a while now. I know weights before cardio.

My question is if you are in a jam and only have 30-40 minutes, which should you do, cardio or weights?

I would go with 30 mins of weights and a 10 min HIIT on the bike or treadmill. Weights are the better choice.

It depends upon your objectives. Weights are to build muscle while cardio enhances the cardiovascular system and increases endurance.

Default weight loss

Weight loss is the goal. I guess the same would hold true for 30 minutes. Do some weight training for the arms and legs for 15-20 minutes then the elyptical for 10-15 minutes.

Thanks

A great way to build muscle and do cardio at the same time is by using kettlebells. Swings, in particular. I don't know if many gyms have them, though. They are great if you want a workout that's intense that won't take forever.
They are a great addition to any home gym, and possibly the single most useful type of free weight.
