Default Atkins & Evening Eating???

Many diets instruct you not to eat past 6/7pm b/c of the consumed calorites won't be burned off when you sleep. Does this apply to Atkins/Low-Carb?

Also, I sometimes wake up at 2/3am hungry. Is it OK to snack on cheese, Atkins-friendly Peanut B utter, or Hummus, or nuts?

Personally I think it's different for everyone. I read the same warnings when I started the Atkins diet, but so far late night eating hasnt affected me at all.

I do make it a point though not to go to bed until at least several hours after eating my last meal no matter how late it is.

I personal make it a point ot never go to be hungry, cause I will not sleep as well....

Eat your 2am snack and watch it for a while, if it causes you a problem, stop it, if not then roll with it.

I absolutely need something to eat most nights. I generally only eat 2 meals a day, so my midnight snack is my 3rd meal. I'm sure I'd lose more if I cut it out -- but I'd also be miserable and hungry and then I might as well go back to eating low fat!

If you NEED to eat, then you should eat. Since it's a lifestyle and not a diet, it really isn't a race to the finish. If you don't burn it during the night, at least you made the healthy decision to feed your body when it needed food.

If it's just a habit and you're just snacking our of boredom, then skip it. The trick is knowing the difference.

One piece of advise that I always give is:
If you're hungery - EAT!!! You should not be hungery on Atkins.

However (and remember theres always a however in life), I lose best when I dont eat after 7 p.m.

Thats whats great about this lifestyle. Its your life, make it workfor you!!! Good luck!!!

I've found I'm hungry at night if I don't eat enough during the day. Don't fall into that trap. The great thing about low carb is that hunger DOES NOT equal weight loss. It's not about eating less so much as it is eating the right things, and bringing your hunger into line with what your body actually needs.

Something to think about, anyway.

For me late night eating is never a good idea. Ive been known to over indulge when watching tv. Now lets say I went OUT for a late dinner then Im ok.
