"Carbohydrates are one of the three nutrients that are the chief sources of energy for the body. (The other two are proteins and fats.)"

Carbs, protein and fat are not "nutrients" !!!

"Ask yourself if the carbs are "good" or "bad." Remember, good carbs are rich in nutrients and high in fiber and they "

If "carbs' are a nurient, how can good carbs be rich in nutrients ???

"Some manufacturers list a food's total number of carbohydrates or "total carbs." Others shuffle the totals by breaking carbohydrates into different types, opting to count some and not count others in their "net effective carbohydrates," listed as "net carbs" or "usable carbs" on the package. "

These are called "Europeans". Carbs are listed, in Europe separately from fiber.

" Don't try to completely eliminate carbs from your diet. "Remember a decade ago when we tried to eliminate fats?" Polk asked. "That wasn't healthy, either. Your body needs carbohydrates to function properly." <--- Not really true, but we do eat them for nutirents.

Carbs, protein and fat are macro-nutrients. The vitamins and other chemicals are micro-nutrients. Unfortunately, both are sometimes refered to simply as 'nutrients', which adds a lot of confusion to any dietary discussion.
