Howdy, I just got a Palm pilot, mostly to help me track carbs and other things. I'm working with a program called Nutricounter which is similar to FitDay. I highly recommend it as a portable version of Fitday for those working with that tracking program. But while I know my daily protien requirements and my daily carb goals, I'm a little fuzzy as to how much fat I should intake as an Atkins eater. As a 39 yr old male at 189 lbs, I'm working with 25g carbs a day, 95g protien (0.5g per pound) and around 2100 calories...a little more than 10 x my body weight. Is there any recommended formula for fat%?

You need to up your protein, at least to 1g per lean body mass. You want to preserve your lean mass.

I weigh way less than you and that's around the amount of protein I consume.

Try to keep your fat above 65% since you are eating only 25g of carbs. Many say they lose better when their fat is higher. I lost better when my fat was around 70% of calories.

Good luck

I shoot for 60-65% Fat, 5-10% Carbs, and 25-35% Protein. That works out to about :

2,200 kcal
160g Fat
30g NET Carbs
165g Protein

Year to Date Average:

That's a little less Fat and more Protein than I shoot for. But, I've done better at keeping my Fat:Protein ratio within my desired range over the last few months. I try to eat Dark Chocolate [Made with Erythritol/Splenda or Stevia instead of Sugar of course] more often now to up my Fat and Copper. I either make it myself or buy Z-Carb Dark Chocolate Bars. My Homemade Dark Chocolate is 67% Chocolate Liquor, 33% Coconut Oil, with a trace of Vanilla, Lecithin, and Stevia and is 2.4g NET CARBS, 94% Fat [by Calories] and has 20%DV of Copper, 14%DV Magnesium, 18%DV Manganese, and 155mg Potassium per ounce.

Hehe. <The choclate thing... I do that to.
1T coconut oil, 1T cocoa powder, 1T heavy cream, peppermint extract, salt, sweetner. Just melt the oil and mix everything up, then freez it until stiff. To make a nice little spongelike desert you can mix it with an egg, pour it in a cup and pop it in the microwave until done...Oalį! ps. The coconut oil is said to be a great stall breaker.ds

Good Luuck!
