Default How the heck did I get bumped out of ketosis?

Yesterday I tested...moderate amounts of ketones. This morning, trace. This afternoon, barely trace...almost negative.

What the heck is going on? I'm 3 weeks into this WOE and this week I've still been sticking to the induction rules for the most part (although I did try a few bites of LC ice cream the other day...yum).

I lost quite a bit the first week, not much the 2nd and nothing this week.

What is going on?

After induction you might stall as your body catches up with the weight it's already lost. When I was on Atkins before, I didn't lose for almost two weeks after induction. And most people I talk to go through the exact same thing!

As for Ketosis, I only check that a few days a week. And sometimes I am not in ketosis, but I am still losing weight. So I don't rely on them, but I don't know why it's changing so much for you. Maybe check it less often?

Keep in mind that the sticks register if there are adequate ketones in your urine. If your body is using up all of the ketones for energy, you won't release any.

This is one reason that they say not to test for a few hours after exercising.....all of the ketones your body produces in the fat burning process will have been used up for energy during the workout.

Unless you ate something off plan, you are probably still in ketosis. Try eating something high in fat - a burger with cheese and mayo. Test about an hour or two later....I bet you will register on the sticks, and this will tell you that you body is still in fat burning mode.

Try peeing in a cup, and dipping your stick in it. That provides a more accurate result.

If I drink my water, I never register more than trace, but I'm still losing.

Somehow I read the first sentence, then the second sentence and I thought you were drinking the water from the first sentence! Ew!

LMAO I thought the same thing too!

Took me a minute to register it lol

Yeah, dipping the sticks is more accurate and when you drink large amounts of water you will pee more often so your urine wont be as concentrated and may not register ketones.

Try testing only first thing in the morning

Also, keep in mind that sugar alcohols can knock you out if you dont count them as carbs, since they are partially absorbed in your system (some more than others) so be careful.
