Default Crystal Light and carbs

Does the Crystal Light drinks have carbs? I was wondering and concerned because I drink quite a bit of it for flavor to squash cravings. I use the home mix kind which has 0 nutritional value in everything except calories. Which the calorie content is 5. I put this information into the hidden carb counter and it said that a beverage having 0 of everything else and having 5 calories contains 1.29g of carbs! Is this possible?? If so, i'm going to have to cut drastically or cut out crystal light completely...

Is Crystal Light still sweetened with NutraSweet (aspartame) or did they change over to Splenda?

The bottled Crystal Light is sweetened with Splenda and my understanding is that it is 0 carb (because they use the liquid splenda). The powdered, make your own is with aspartame and I counted it as 1 carb though label says 0. Since it can be .99 and the company can still put 0, I always say when in doubt count it as 1. Good luck.

Do you think it should be 1 carb per glass or 1 carb per small packet to make a whole pitcher? (lol) *crosses fingers for per packet*

addictmeHM,
Thanks for getting me to double check this. For each 8 ounce serving of Crystal Light, bottled or powder mix, should probably count as 1 carb. Since 8 ounces has 5 calories they have to come from somewhere - fat, protein, or sugar. There is obviously no fat in Crystal Light and I don't see any protein source in the list of ingredients so Fit day was correct. Sorry. I had thought the bottled was 0 but I was wrong.

Wait a second. 5 calories does not mean 5carbs. You are only talking about 1carb m/l for a glass. Its your decision about the aspatame. I can't see paying a buck apiece for the bottled stuff so I used the powdered for lemonade.
Check out Diet V-8 Splash- tropical fruit flavors- sweetened with Splenda. It has a carrot juice base so GI may be high but only 3carbs-well worth while IMHO

No one said 5 carbs. Fitday said 1.29 I believe and above just rounded to 1 carb per 8 ounce serving. Diet V-8 is good, but I think addictmeHM was looking for a carb free drink. Another choice is Fruit2O - no calories and 0 carbs. Comes in several flavors and of course Diet Rite if you want a soft drink. Good luck and so much for always being able to trust the labels

I'll think i'm going to look into Diet Rite. I never thought a soda could be 'healthy', and yes, I am looking for a carb free drink. Something to taste to kill those cravings. Thanks again!

Don't forget about Diet Hansens Sodas... Nice flavor selection, zero carbs and sweetened with splenda.

I've heard that Crystal Light does indeed have hidden carbs. I'm not a big fan of the stuff myself, so I can't speak from experience.
