Default Another Iowa Newbie

I found this site today searching for some support while starting Atkins. This is day 3 of my "lifestyle change." ("Diet" is a four-letter word for me, so I'm trying to look at it a little bit differently.) I started Atkins on Monday after seeing my husband lose around 20 pounds over the past two months and becoming inspired to do something about my own weight problem.

Well, Day 1 went very well and I was very optimistic. Day 2 was a different story completely. I woke up feeling nauseated, light-headed, very tired and generally just awful. After re-reading part of the Atkins book I soon realized that I must be going through some serious food withdrawals. Today I'm feeling slightly better and I'm hoping that this goes away soon because I don't have very much will power and could easily give up.

Has anyone else suffered through the first days but made good progress shortly after that? And I have lots of other questions, but before posting them all I will read through some of the other recent posts and see if I can find the answers there first.

I look forward to learning a lot here and perhaps making some new friends.

Oh yes! Everyone goes through this, and within a couple of days you'll feel much better. In fact, you'll probably feel better than you have in years.

By the way, welcome!

I went through a terrible time for the first five days - I was losing but it didn't matter much when I felt so awful... you can see as much reading through the first few pages of my journal. When you break the withdrawal, you'll feel 110% better. I promise!

If you're having headaches, try some Gingko Biloba- these eased mine up enough where I could function somewhat clearly. If you're having wicked cravings, take some L-Carnitine. This helped me too.

Stick with it and you'll be amazed at how much more energy you have. You can do this!

Best of luck to you,
Petrina

And greetings from Eastern Iowa!
Your symptoms are very normal. I'm sure the fog will clear soon. Drink lots of water, take your vitamins and hang in there.
Welcome!
