Unhappy BFL when sick

I had dental surgery last Thursday and it went well. I was told I could work out the next day, so I did my lower body workout then followed it with my missed 20MAS from the day before. I carried on with my regular Saturday cardio/abs workout but worked extra hard, again, to make up for missing on Thurday.

Sunday I felt really sick - called the dentist on Monday and he prescribed an antibiotic, which I've been taking. Worked out regular Monday, Tuesday and today, but I'm soooooo tired and sore. Could barely do the minimum. I had an appointment with my family doctor today, and she says the infection is bad - throat, sinus, ears - and has given me a stronger antibiotic which should be more effective - I had my first dose this morning.

I came to work today and feel horrid - want to go home to bed. This is my last week of my BFL challenge - I have tomorrow, Friday and Saturday left (cardio, UBWO, cardio). After my awful LBWO today I don't know if I should take tomorrow off - I'm so close to finishing and have done so well. Should I just wait and see how I feel? Will working out make me worse? Any advise would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Laura

Laura -

As much as I know you want to finish your first BFL challenge strong I would listen to what your body is telling you..... REST!

You could do more harm to yourself than good by trying to workout when you are so sick. Give your time body to recover and you will be better quicker and stronger. When you start to feel better then start back into your routine but don't over-do.

One or two (or more) missed workouts won't destroy all the advance I'm sure you've made.... Your body is trying to tell you something - give it a chance to heal.

Take care, hope that you feel better soon!

Yup. I agree with nets. You should rest. You can always carry your challenge over a couple of days to make up for the few days you give your body rest. I know how hard it is to say no to working out when you have worked so hard up until now! A few days off will do your body MUCH more good than pushing yourself into working out with a sick body. It will take longer to recover if you don't give yourself some time off. Just eat healthy and you should be perfectly fine. You shouldn't have to worry about gaining weight anyway b/c your body has to work extra hard to fight off the infection, thus burning extra calories.
