Default Help! Protein Powder/Exercise? My get up and go ... went.

I have a question for you all. I am currently doing Firm 3x week and doing treadmill 3x and weights 2x. I am finding that I have been running out of gas, especially after my scheduled rest day.

I keep my carbs to usually under 20, have added in 1/2 c of strawberries about 45 min before I work out. My food intake is clean, eggs sometimes bacon for breakfast, tuna salad, egg salad for lunch, and generally a hamburger patty with salad and veggie for dinner, alternated with porkchop or chicken breast. If I get hungry, I snack on nuts. I do not use bars or shakes at all, nor do I eat any form of LC products.

Would protein powder help me get back some of my get up and go? Is it better before workout or after? What is a good amount?

I have been searching the board and can't find much info on it. According to Fitday my protein average is 24% for daily intake.

I also take a daily vitamin, 2 magnesium, 2 500 calcium.

Suggestions? I can't stand this weak tired feeling!

Did you get any input? I know what my trainer has said, but he's not a low carber.

Protein is better after a workout ... but it can be used an hour before. It really doesn't give me much of a boost in the way of energy, but it does for some people.

How is your water intake? Do you take a multivitamin?

I had totally forgotten about this thread.

Hi Dan - I had picked up some protein powder and was drinking it about 45 min prior to workout. I have now switched it around and eat LC Yogurt about 45 min before and then drink a protein shake after I work out. It seems to have helped alot.

Workouts consist of Aerobics and Weights. I do the treadmill for 3 miles 3 x a week, Stairmaster 30 min 3 x a week, FIRM 3 x a week and do the Weight machine at our gym in the apartment for 3 circuits 3 x a week. I have combined Weights/Treadmill and FIRM/Stairmaster.

Water - I drink about 3 liters a day. Not hard to do here in vegas, LOL.

Supplements I take are a multivitamin, L-carnitine, COQ10, magnesium and calcium.

I have also moved into OWL and my carb intake is probably around 30. I don't really keep track anymore too closely because my eating habits are not a problem area for me anymore (thank god).

Thank you for responding!

Wickd
