I find that the more calories I eat the more I lose. In the DANDR I believe that he said that caloric intake was not important. That your body would expel any unused calories. I eat alot of fat... Sometimes cream cheese and 2Tbl PB for a snack and lots and lots of butter! I calculate my menu on fitday about once a week and I'm usually over 2000. With mayo on my eggs I sometimes push 2500-3000 cal per day. I run about 2 miles every other day and weight lift twice a week. I haven't found that increase nor decrease in caloric intake has affected my weight loss. I notice I don't have alot of energy on days when I eat fewer calories. I like eating fats, I like eating alot of food, so it isn't an issue for me to get to a higher calorie intake than someone else who has a smaller appetite. Do you weight lift? I know that in the DANDR there is a formula for determining your Lean Body Mass as well as your BF %. I think that would help determine whether you are going catabolic and burning muscle instead of body fat. Getting enough protein in? 1 gram per 1.5lb of body weight(?? I think that's the ratio??) I would suggest reading as much as you can about low carb dieting and exercise and their effects on metabolism. I love reading all the stuff they have on the net about studies done by this group or that on metabolism and nutrition. There is so much to learn! I didn't realize how complicated the human body was until I started caring about how healthy mine was He he he. Well thanks for listening to my 2 (ok ok, more like a dime worth) cents.... Good luck!!!
