Default What Atkin's Friendly medicine do you use?

I have a cold/sore throat but I don't want to take any medicine because alot of the stuff is loaded with sugars. Help, my throat hurts and I need some troat lozenges!

Fishermans Friends and Halls both make sugar free lozenges. I'd ask your pharmacist, because if you think about they must have cold meds for folks with diabetes.

Most importantly is if you are sick, take what you need to get better That said, you can get sugar free zinc throat lozenges - they have about 1/2 carb each. For pain or fever Advil gel caps are good. Tylenol adds sugar or corn starch depending on what you get to their stuff. If you ask the pharamacist at your drug store, I'm sure they have some sugar free cough syrup too. Try to keep your liquids up, if you need juice the diet V-8 splash only has about 3 carbs per 8 ounces. Hope you feel better soon. Take care of yourself.

I use Throat Coat tea. It works better than anything else I have ever used for a sore throat.

Most pharmacys keep diabetic cold medicines in the diabetic section. I know Robitussin makes one I can't remember the name, maybe scottussin or something like that. Most cough drop makers make sugar free ones, but be sure to read the labels some have aspartame, some sugar alcohols, and if you have too many of the ones with sugar alcohols you know what can happen. I personally like the Ricola ones but they do have aspartame. If you have a stuffy nose you can try the Vicks Vapor rub that way you are not ingesting anything at all. I do agree with Marieshops though take whatever you need to get or feel better that is what is most important. I don't think Dr. Atkins would want you to feel like crap.
