Default Loss of appetite

After the dramatic loss in week one of induction I found that in this second week I have only lost two lbs.

My body shape seems to reducing in size dramatically

I'm so busy right now I don't have time to read through the books but I wonder about the significance of these impressions:-

The desire for water is increased when you are losing weight

My partner reports that my body temperature seems higher when we are sleeping together (could that be associate with ketosis?)

The weight loss dropped off when I was near maximum purple on "Ketostix" but has returned now than I am dark pink (it was only at the latter part of week one that I went purple)

Should I ignore what my body seems to be telling me or force it to comply with the diet?

A little confused here.

OK First, I"m not sure if it's the diet that's causing you to drink more or the actual act of drinking more. Personally, I've found I become thirstier when I drink a lot. Most diets urge drinking water to flush out your system. Not sure how true or untrue that is, but most people report higher weight loss when they drink more.

As for the ketosticks....most people here will agree the color has nothing to do with your fat-burning ability...but more likely that you aren't drinking enough when you get the darker colors. If you're in ketosis, you're in ketosis....kinda like being pregnant...either you are or you aren't. AND many people never show ketosis on the sticks, but loose all the same.

"Should I ignore what my body seems to be telling me or force it to comply with the diet?"

Not sure what you mean here....what is it your body it trying to tell you?

You're doing fine!

The increased water intake is GOOD, it helps flush the by-products of fat burning away and helps you lose. This accounts for the lighter color of the stix. The darkest color can actually mean you're getting dehydrated.

The warmth is a sign of your metabolism being revved up...again good!

the first week is mostly water loss, keep in mind a gallon of water weighs about eight pounds. 2-3 pounds
per week is my adv..... if ya dont believe me try eating
to many carbs one day and watch the scales rise. keep up the good work.

Suppose is difficult to say who is setting the pace - my brain of my body!

Well something has switched of my desire for food and if I didn't push myself to eat I reckon I could easily enter a fast.

The only thing I really fancy is celery and full fat cream cheese... but one would have to eat a huge amount of celery to make up the daily carb intake of 20!!!

Ah! Well, I'd say go with your gut. How do you feel? Warmer, but not having hot flashes or being too warm? That's great. No desire to eat? Sounds like your carb addiction is quieted down! That's great!

It really is important for you to eat. Dr Atkins recomends you go no longer than 6 waking hours without eating. (correct me if I'm wrong guys!) The first time I did Atkins, I set a reminder on outlook in work to remind me to eat. If it went off and I'd eaten, I just reset it for 6hrs later. If I hadn't eaten since the last reminder, I'd force myself to get something. Since the first week of Induction, I've had almost no hunger. But I do eat all my meals....and if at the end of the day I'm low on calories, protein and/or fat, I have a shake (with or without various other foods adjusted to needs) to improve my intake.

I guess I'm not an advocate of pushing yourself to eat when you aren't hungry, within reason... IMHO part of the plan is to learn to listen to your natural hunger now that it isn't carb/insulin driven anymore. Of course, this doesn't mean going all DAY without eating, but trust me, your appetite WILL come back after a while! Then you'll be worried about OVER eating..
