Default Cream?

I like to have cream as a dessert. What I do is whip up about half a cup with a teaspoon of splenda.

I have this most evenings after dinner. Is this too much?

Just normal fresh cream. Not the aerosol stuff.

Wow, no offense meant, but that sounds awful. o_o

I don't think it'd be too much, though.

Thumbs up Superfly.......

Real cream is liquid. You buy it in the dairy section where you buy all the different milks. It just says heavy cream or whipping cream on the carton. I whip it up (about 1/2 cup) with one packet of Splenda and a 1/2 teaspoon of real vanilla. It's delicious on berries! Things like Cool Whip and the canned-aerosol ones are processed and full of sugar and carbs. Making your own whipped cream is very easy and delicious!

Real whipped cream sound like the perfect way to end the day. Reddi Whip ( aerosol ) has no carbs or should I say less than 1 gram and no added sugar.

Question black57

Maybe Reddi Whip made different types because the one I used to use had more sugar in it than that. Anyhoo.... I just prefer to use whole foods as opposed to processed food when I can. If an ingredient is .5 grams or less, companies are not obligated to list it at all! Therefore, there are a lot of hidden ingredients (and carbs) in processed foods which aren't listed on the can/box/bottle, etc. I feel safer just not using them. Real whipped cream tastes so much better to me than Reddi Whip anyway, so it was a good change for me.

Superfly_c,

I whip heavy cream (40% butterfat) with a hand held blender. I think it might turn into butter in a standard blender, but it can't hurt to try. Just watch for when it starts to thicken up and keep checking often.

When I was a kid we used a very cold metal bowl and extra cold cream. We whipped it by hand with a whisk. Took forever, but *always* worth it!

Whip it with a hand whisk, a hand held mixer or in your regular mixer. Becareful not to overwhip it or before your eyes you'll see it curdle and separate. Just till you get think soft peaks forming

Hey but the upside is if you do whip it too long you'll have lovely sweet butter - but butter that good should only be eaten on bread lol!

When ever I host a get together I try and make the real deal. I love cream whipped!

Smile Superfly.....

Superfly....

I use a hand-held stick/wand mixer. They are really inexpensive; I think I paid twelve bucks for mine. I don't even own a regular mixer because I don't bake. But the wand works great for whipped cream and homemade soups. However, I've sure any mixer will work as well as beating it by hand. If you need more exercise...beating it by hand might be a good choice because you'll definitely build muscle! LOL Like the others said, don't beat it too long; just till you reach the consistancy of a good whipped cream. I have it every morning on my raspberries (I used frozen so I can have them all year), with my scrambled eggs. My favorite breakfast. Since I'm on maintenance, I might have one slice of Whole Grain toast or Rye toast. It's a great breakfast. Good luck!

How many carbs in a 1/2 cup of cream? Aren't we only allowed a few T's of cream per day? Maybe I'm thinking of something else, but I thought it was limited.

There are 5 carbs in a half cup of cream according to Fitday.
