Default Those who have lost 50 lbs. or more...

Just curious....I'm right at the 50 lb. mark of weight loss...as are a couple others on the boards...and we all seem to be having a problem with weight loss having slowed WAY down...like almost to the point of a stall...

SO...for those of you who have lost 50 lbs. or more...do you recall if your weight loss slowed or stalled at the point at which you had lost about 50 lbs.?

Would appreciate hearing your experiences.

I have about 20 to go but those first 35 went off fast and what you said about being in the same 2-3 lb range is EXACTLY what is going on with me. I am just going to keep at it too and hope that it will come off soon, plus this is a "set point" weight for me. It will take something new to push me through, like exercise...=)

SET POINT...

That's what I've been TRYING to figure out the name of!!!! Thanks so much for posting that...I wrote in my journal today that I thought 160 was a weight I hovered at for several years before I had my sons and that I was probably having trouble breaking that weight because of that...that I thought Atkins discusses this in his book...but couldn't remember the name of it! Thanks for telling me what to call it!

you are welcome. Darn that set point. That is why I have my minigoal at what it is...hopefully I can and will get past it. I know that it is my responsibility to exercise it away. I just can't seem to make myself do it. Darn it!

Same thing happened to me. I dropped that first 50 in what seemed like no time. These last 12-15 lbs though are taking their own sweet time, darn them.

How long?? We have similar stats, I am couple of inches taller so I think I would be fine at 150...I am just curious, how long for you for that last 15 lbs. I will stick with this woe/wol anyway, just curious...

Mine slowed down after the first 50lbs, stayed that way for about a month until I changed what I ate a bit (alternate foods, I was eating a lot of the same things everyday). Then the weight started coming off again, and now that I'm down to the last 4lbs, it's slowing down again, but I have been adding back in some whole grains. I know it will come off, and right now I'm not in any hurry for it to. I'd rather dote on getting my correct eating habits taken care of, rather than weight loss at this point.

I hit a stall, buckled down really hard for a couple of weeks, broke throught, and then did awesome again. It was also my old setpoint.

Once you break through, you may see the old weight loss rate come back.

Same for me. I lost 40 lbs. really quick. Then 20 lbs. not quite as quick but not bad. Now I have been stalled for almost 3 months and am getting depressed. 25 lbs. from goal, but I will not give up!!!

At fifty it started to slow down, 60 moved more slowly, 70 I started feeling like a turtle and now I can't even tell it is moving anymore. It can be frustrating but I came this far so I'm not going to stop now. Just keep taking those measurements so hopefully when the scale doesn't show a change, at least I can tell something.

Everyone in this thread seems pretty determined so that is nice to see from some slow losers like us.

Freckles, it looks like our suspicions may be correct — lots of people seem to stall at the 50-pounds-lost mark. I've never really weighed 175 since jr. high, and then not for very long, so I wouldn't call this a "set point" for me. Just a major slow-down!

If all else fails, I'm moving on to "clean March." Yuck.

Count me into the post-50 lb-turtle club. My first 50 came off in about three months, then the next 25 took another three months. Now, I've plateaued and am trying different things to get jump started again.

For those that have "broken through," how did you do it?
