Default New to the low carb world!

Hi there everyone. I'm cls923.. I am not new to dieting, but am new to the concept of utilizing low carbs as it applies to weight loss. I am one of those people who has been 266lbs., and 128lbs, teetering through the better part of my adult life. I have found it almost impossible to lose weight by decreasing caloric and fat intake, and keep the pounds off. After doing a great deal of reading Dr. Atkin's materials, it all "clicked" how indeed this works..I am a nurse and traditionally have always gone with the low fat diet, only to lose weight really slow (especially since I passed age 35), and then to esentially fail, regaining all that I had lost. I have been on a low carb diet for only a few days and already have lost 3 pounds! I truly believe this works, and wonder why I didn't do this years ago.
I believe that a low fat diet has many limitations as opposed to a low carb diet. Low fat seems to be hopeless after you reach a certain age and your metabolism greatly decreases. Low carb seems to work at any age, though I know pounds lost/ week will vary per person..
I am excited about becoming a part of this, and sure appreciate this site for all the information and support provided. I would appreciate any comments you might have..Thank you.

Welcome from a fellow nurse!! I couldn't agree with you more about the whole low-fat dieting process. All it did for me was keep me starving for 4-6 months and then in another 6-12 months have to do it all over again cuz I had gained it back.

This LC WOE is working for me, slowly, but I feel good, and I don't feel deprived at all like I would on the low fat thing.

I see you started a journal- great going it will be a great source of insipration and motivation to you!!!
