Default Sugar-free cough syrup = binge trigger???

Normally, lunch is a pretty stable meal and if I'm going to be tempted to binge, it will be after dinner. This was WAY the case before, and is still a little bit true now that LC has dramatically reduced the problem. So when I got slammed with the "get to the fridge NOW" feeling about an hour after a normal lunch today, I was a bit taken aback.

And then I realized I'd taken a shot of Robitussin sugar-free cough syrup, the cough-control and chest congestion formulation. The label says it's free of everything (how does it work?)--sugar, fructose, sorbitol, dye, carbs. It does have acesulfame potassium (I seem to do ok with that in drinks), gylcerin, methylparaben (that's wax, right?), polyethelene glycol, povidone, propylene glycol, and saccharin as "inert" ingredients.

The active ingredients are the basic dextromethorphan and guaifenensin, which I don't recall triggering binges before, but this is the first time I've needed a cough syrup since going LC and I can't swear that I would have noticed before.

Any ideas? I'm afraid to take another dose, although if I go straight to bed after I might be OK.

thx

If you need to take it to breathe and get through the cold.. I'd still take it. Just being aware of the fact it may cause sugar cravings means you'll have a heads-up and have other activities to keep busy and distract yourself from the cravings. Or even as you said, take it before bed.

Sometimes a person just has to do what they have to do!
