Default All "franken foods" created equally ??

Hey there,

I am just wondering if people on Atkins try any other of the "Franken Food" product brands?

There are sometimes when I can't get it together to pack snacks with me on long days away from home. So I stop to pick up an atkins bar at the pharmacy....now I notice "3 carb bars" "Jamieson Carb Blocker Bars" "Ketobars" etc. etc.

I know these ones say only 3 carbs etc....but are they really legitamate on Atkins to eat?

Let me also state I KNOW its not ideal to be eating ANY of these things but sometimes you need something quick and portable....

There's TONS of posts on these different bars in the Products forums.

For the record, I find almost all of them too sweet, but lean to the Atkins (Chocolate Coconut, Cookies'n'Cream) and the Keto (Strawberry, Chocolate Fudge) bars. They have generally have more glycerine/glycerol and less maltitol than, say, the "Doctor's Diet" or "3 Carb" bars, for example; and that's easier on my stomach and my blood sugar.

There's lots of recipes for home-made bars in the Kitchen forum, too, and that way there's no _____ols at all. For the investment in supplies and a bit of time on a Sunday, for example, really good emergency food or snacks for at least a week.

Hope this helps!

THanks Islandgirl...I was beginning to wonder if any one would post a reply to my question...

I'm deffinatly goign to look in the kitchen forum for receipes...

So you would say that the Keto Bars are similar enough to still be ok to eat while on Atkins?

Thank-you very much for your time!

The ingredients (and your own preferences and physical reaction to them) are more important than the brand name. They're all technically "low carb", these bars, so monitor yourself and how you feel after you've eaten them, and go for it.
