Question Manufacturing Cream vs: Heavy Whipping Cream

Okay so what's the difference between these two?? All I can see is that the Heavy Whipping Cream has skim milk in it and the other doesn't it only has cream and some name I can't pronounce carrogean or something. The manufacturing cream has no nutritional facts at all on it, I bought it at business costco in my area.

If anyone has any info on it, I'd appreciate it.

Carrageenan. I believe it is a thickener, filler, or something of the sort. True Heavy Cream should not have Skim Milk in it....I've never heard of "Manufacturing" Cream. There are 3 types of cream I know of: Light/Whipping Cream, Heavy Cream, and Half-and-Half.

Both the Heavy Whipping Cream and the manufacturing cream have Carrageenan. As far as true heavy whipping cream, this is the Land O' Lakes brand and says it has skim milk. I'm not sure what true heavy whipping cream is then, this is labeled Heavy Whipping cream. The manufacturing cream has no milk whatsoever, so I wonder if this is the better option.

Here's the ingredients on Great Value (Wal-Mart's Brand) Heavy Whipping Cream: CREAM, MILK, CARRAGEENAN, MONO- AND DIGLYCERIDES, POLYSORBATE 80. It has Milk, but its Whole Milk, not Skim Milk...Though, I doubt the type of milk will make much difference in the carbs. What are the ingredients on the Manufacturing Cream ??? Cream and Carrageenan ??? If so, it is probably higher in fat and lower in carbs than the Heavy Whipping Cream...and thus might be a better choice.

Yes, it's just cream, Carrageenan, and POLYSORBATE 80...I figures it was a better bet, good thing too, it's only $3.79 for a half gallon of it, compared to $3.15 for a quart of heavy whipping cream at Business Costco, or even worse heavy whipping cream is $3.79 for a pint at Safeway...

Thanks!

The Land of Lakes has more carbs than normal Heavy Whipping cream. Costco used to carry Dairy Fresh which did not have skim milk.......and had less carbs. If you go to Costco please request the old Dairy Fresh Heavy Cream. Their is a request box by the service desk.

I'll do that. My regular Costco doesn't carry the heavy whipping cream at all, I have to go to the Business Costco to get it, but if Manufacturing cream is better, I'd rather get that.

If anyone has any info on it, I'd appreciate it.

Basically, Manufacturing Cream is commercial whipping cream, and often much heavier in butterfat (you got it at the business Costco, correctomundo?) -- like 42%+ where 'regular' whipping or heavy cream has a minimum of 35-36% butterfat.

That's the reason there's no RETAIL Nutrition Facts label on the panel, it's a package designed for business or food service customers, wholesale.

The ingredients will vary by company. Look out for added sugars and skim milk or 'milk ingredients' -- THOSE add carbs. Carageenan is a thickener and a soluble fiber carb, no problem.

Hope this helps.
