Unhappy I'm not losing weight..

I am getting really frustrated. I have been doing the Atkins diet for 3 weeks now, and have lost only 3 pounds. I have been having 20 grams of carbs or less a day, and have been working out. I am wondering if I might be doing something wrong, or is anyone has any suggestions for me?! Thanks so much!

liddy20,
Why don't you post what you've been eating. Sometimes people can give you some advice on something that might be slowing your weight loss. There are a lot of helpful people here who have a lot of experience with LCing.

Also, if you don't yet you might want to try using fitday. http://www.fitday.com It will really help you keep track of your carbs and food choices. Its great for spotting trouble areas. And Welcome aboard!

Heaven knows there's gazillions of more qualified people on these forums than me, but some of my newbie gleanings may apply to you. Here's a couple of observations.

1. Read The Book! It has tons of info. You can get a lot out of it in a 30 - 60 min quick scan. I was eating way too many peanuts in the beginning, mostly due to my ignorance of the program.

2. Be Patient! I've observed some people on this forum drop weight like a rock, others have periodic stalls followed by big drops, and then there's the group (like me) that slloooowwly drop. At least I'm not gaining a half a pound every one or two weeks (like before).

3. Follow the advice from ImHere and post what you've been eating. There's lots of experience in this group. They may have some great advice concerning what you're eating. It's hard to say what you've been doing wrong (if anything), when no one knows what you're doing.

4. Whether you read the book or not, spend time reading the stuff on these forums. Lots of practical experience, that you won't find in the book, is made available free of charge.

5. Don't give up.

I agree don't give up. I dropped 10 lbs but haven't lost anything in the last week--no cheats--. Your body is getting used to the loss. You have been working out so muscles weigh more than fat--that could be your answer. The heavier you are the faster you lose at first and then it slows down.

I have been doing this WOE since June 25th and have only lost 8 1/2 pounds. And 2 of those pounds JUST came off this past week.

I did not cheat this entire time and decided that I would just wait it out and see what happens. I am soooooooo ornery that I decided this time I am not giving up. It was 1 month before I finally started losing again, I hadn't lost a thing in 1 month.

But.........I did lose inches. And that's what people see, not the number on the scale.

Don't give up---be strong and wait it out. Your time will come too!!
