BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) level
I am diabetic 2, underweight, have been on bernstein plan for 3 months, no medications, 2 times a week at gym for 1-2 hours.
Last week I got my blood report as follows :
HBA1c : 5 (before did not know, but 3 months ago my fasting BG was 136, and 2hr PP was 240), now my fasting BG always around 90-105.
Cholesterol total : 166 (before 185)
LDL : 103 (before 31)
HDL : 48 (before 35)
Triglyceride : 76 (before 595, yes this HIGH)
Albumin : 4.61
Ureum : 47 (before 17) ---> NORMAL is 10-22mg/DL
Creatinin : 0.73 (before 0.65)
Compared the data, everything seems good, only worry about the Ureum level in blood which is far too high from normal level.
I read that UREUM level in blood is affected by what we eat, and yes I eat much protein (around 50grams per serving, mostly from fresh fish and egg), and this worries me if in the long term will do any harm ?.
I know that Atkins, Bernstein, PP all asure that high protein intake will not do harm for healthy kydney. (and I think my kydney is healthy)
Does anybody there ever check for BUN (Urea Nitrogen) level ?, and is it also elevated ?,
