Default Waffles too salty

Has anyone made the belgian waffles from the Atkins book? I made them this morning and they tasted rather salty. The recipe only asks for 1 tsp. of salt. Maybe this is just a taste that Atkins Bake Mix gives off. Any ideas or has anyone ran into the same problems?

When I started Atkins in April, I bought the Atkins bake mix. Made the waffles. hated them. Phooey! A lady in the grocery store said the same thing. I can't give you an answer, but I wonder if it's possibly the Atkins mix that just naturally tastes that way.

As for making crepes, the mix tastes totally different.

There is another thread on this site here that has a homemade version of Atkins bake mix. It's called lc biscuits. I'm gonna try it. Maybe cheaper and not salty.

1 tsp. of salt is a lot for any "bakery type" item. Try cutting it down to 1/2 or even 1/4 tsp. if you try the recipe again.
