Default Hi fellow low carbers

Well, I'm new to this board, but not to low carbing. Last April of 2002 I started Atkins and within a month I had gone from 210 to 193. Suddenly I stopped losing weight, and shortly after I discovered I was pregnant. While pregnant I went from 193 to 232! My dear son was born February 12th 2003, and I went down to 215 that same day. I'm breastfeeding, and it's not recommended to be in ketosis, so I've been looking into other low carb type diets. My mom sent me an email about the "No-grain diet" which is basically, no grain, sugar, or dairy. It's broken up into different levels so you gradually eat healthier and healthier. It's very interesting, you can check it out on www.mercola.com Also, I've been doing a lot of reading up on the "paleo" diet. I haven't read any books on it yet, but have read lots on the internet. It's similar: no grains, no sugar except occassional raw honey. What I like about the paleo diet is that you can eat as much fruit and vegatables as you want (the right kinds of course). I've lost a few pounds in the last week and I've mostly been following the paleo approach, but I've been eating small amounts of dairy. I'm looking forward to sticking with it and losing all this extra weight! My son will be crawling soon, and I'm gonna need the energy.

Hello JayBird, Welcome to the forum....Atkins has a maintenance program that some use when they cannot go into induction level. I have heard good reports from those on the maintenance.

Thanks, Fat. So far it is faring well. I have lost 4 lbs so far since the beginning of August, which I'm very happy about! So, maintenance phase is working fine....
