Angry LC bashing article. Grrrrrrrr

Do you want to have a chuckle or just get mad? I found the site foodandhealth.com, specifically see www.foodandhealth.com/DM2.pdf. The site is dedicated to selling health related literature and giving advice. But, they are highly critical of any low-carb approach. Below I've listed ten reasons why they think low-carb is "wrong."

1. Heart disease risk increases
2. Cancer risk increases
3. Poor long term weight control
4. Reduced athletic performance
5. Rising blood pressure with age
6. Gout
7. Kidney stones
8. Osteoperosis
9. Fainting
and 10. Keto breath

Puuhhlease ..............

I wondered why a website dedicated to 'health' would dismiss low-carb diets with such reasons with feable descriptions. See point ten: "Keto-breath can be described as a cross between nail polish and over-ripe pineapple." That makes a low-carb diet "wrong?" Or how maintaining blood sugar levels leads to fainting. Anyway, I did a little research on the author and he runs a wellness center and has his own diet known as the Pritkin Approach. Basically, low-fat, high-carb, no refined sugars, and exercise.

From his website: "Instead of restricting yourself to tiny portions and bite-size snacks, you're loading your plate with pastas, potatoes, rice, yogurt, fruits, vegetables, beans, seafood, and poultry. You're also taught the Science of Alliance: a set of skills that ingeniously blends calorically-light foods, like those listed above, with a touch of the "forbidden"-a teaspoon of olive oil, a dollop of guacamole."

Obviously this guy is trying to sell his own wares and ideas. I'm just amazed at the arrogance of this doctor.

Jeez, what a load of CRAP.

Stuff like this makes me so mad. They sell kits to health professionals entitled, "The Truth About Low Carb Fad Diets". Perhaps I could email them and request "The Truth About Low FAT Fad Diets."

He's from the Pritkin Center. Maybe someone should point out to him that Dr Pritkin died while joggin when he was 40 or something like that. G-r-e-a-t lifestyle...
