Default Karen, question about Equal?

Hi Karen

Is Equal the sweetener that tastes funny if you heat it? If so, how much Splenda/Stevia/SugarTwin could I use to replace 10packets of the stuff in a recipe? (I'm going to make the Heinz like ketchup recipe, but I may want to use the ketchup in cooked dishes, so I want to make sure I sweeten with something that won't end up tasting weird afterwards!)

Thanks

Yes! Equal is made from aspartame and can't be heated. There's a link here on the measuring bulk sweeteners vs. packets.

The easiest thing to do though is just go by taste. Start with a tablespoon each of Twin and Splenda and a few drops of stevia. Keep adding until you come up with something that you like the taste of.

LC ketchup is a great base for BBQ sauce. Are you thinking along those lines?

Karen

Hey Karen
Thanks for the info and link!

I might use it in BBQ sauce, but also used to use it in making meatloaf - this way I'll have a lowcarb version, rather than using the original Heinz
