Question Ice Cream Makers

Have any of you bought an ice cream maker and made LC ice cream? Was it good? Are you glad you bought one? I think I am going to buy one tomorrow.

Purchased a Crusinart 2 quart Ice Cream Maker. No salt no ice.
Place the containers in the freezer and in short time they are frozen and you add your ingredients.

Your call on what you add but be sure to calculate properly. Takes 15 to 20 minutes to make and you are then in seventh heaven or hell, lol! They also have a single quart model.

Lady friend took a quart and ate half of it and found herself having a gall bladder attack. There are recipes and the sky is the limit.

Good luck! Pursuit

Good Morning!

I started here:

http://www.carb-lite.au.com/index.html and then spread out to various sites linked. Tons of ideas and once you get the hang of it you can add your favorite ingredients.

Have fun Pursuit

hi there,

In general, ice creams and frozen treats made without the texturizing quality of real sugar tend to freeze solid as a rock, with resulting damage to the blade of your ice cream maker if you aren't careful.

There's a discussion thread with several pages of recipes and hints from members how to overcome this concern, in our Sweet Treats forum. Check out .. Homemade LC Ice Cream, Sherbet and Ices.

hth,

Doreen

Unhappy

From what I am reading I have come to the conclusion that my ice cream will be rock hard and may even have chrystals if I simply follow a basic LC ice cream recipe. The other suggestions seem to be too much hassle. I don't eat that much ice cream. I appreciate you telling me about this ahead of time. My ice cream maker is going back to the store. Kinda disappointing.

I have a Cuisinart and I use it more to make frozen yogourt than ice cream. I just get plain yogourt, add some Splenda, maybe strawberrries, flavoured syrup or concentrated flavour oils.
I do like the ice cream too, usually my husband and I eat the whole batch right away though.

Are you saying that you make the ice cream and it doesn't get rock hard or icy? If that is the case would you be so kind as to tell me what recipe you use?

Thankx

It doesn't get rock hard unless you put it in the freezer after it's made. I haven't made it in a long time, I used various recipes I found on the web, I don't have them any more. They would have been simple ones.

I have copies of those recipes. So you just keep it in the frig then? Is it ice cream? Or is it like a soft dairy queen? Why don't you make it anymore? You just like the yogurt better?

No, we eat it right away! It's like a soft serve. I guess I make it more in the summer, or I just buy sugar free ice cream at the store.

Thanks for your help. I guess I'll just return the machine and save some money.

Default GREAT NEWS

I called Cuisenart and they told me that if you cover it with plastic wrap before you put the lid on and place it in the freezer it won't be rock hard!! Gonna try it tomorrow night.
