Default Vinegar

This is actually a response to the dill pickle post where someone mentioned that vinegar has sugar in it. This really depends on the type of vinegar used. White distilled vinegar is acetic acid and in most cases does not contain sugar. Some brands will add burnt sugar for flavoring. Other types of vinegars such as cider, corn, flavored, do tend to have sugars present. (Cider vinegar which is sometimes used for pickling has 14g carb per cup).

Reading the label is the best bet.

You are so right!

And beware of the most delicious balsamic vinegar, which is high in sugar.

Default The Vinegar ?

I would love for someone to resolve the difference between my Atkins carb counter and the carb counter in the Atkins book-
The carb counter says all vinegar has carbs but white has 0
The book says red wine vinegar has 0

Help !
I have been using the white thinking common sense says it would be zero since red wine has more carbs then white....
