Question Over the counter drugs

I have a ? about over the counter drugs.....does anyone know if they are safe to take on Atkins....do they contain any carbs? Are there any to steer clear of?

Also what about herbal diet pills to help u lose....can u take those along with doing the Atkins diet?

Which over the counter drugs do you mean? If you mean common painkillers (aspirin, paracetemol etc) I've never noticed any ill effects. Just avoid things containing lots of sugar (ie cough syrup).

I'm not sure diet pills of any type work. A lot of the herbal ones are just diuretics which is not what we want. if ypou want something herbal which will give you a bit of an advantage try drinking green tea.

Smile otc drugs

Hi,
a few words about over the counter diet pills, NOT a good idea, they will cause more problems than anyone needs, increase in blood pressure, heart rate a possible trip to the emergency room. The FDA is trying to pull alot of these fat burners and other products. Also "herbal" should never be assumed to be safe. Things such as Ma juang, bitter orange peel, kola nut all have ephedra mimicking effects. Read labels on other otc drugs, alot contain sugar (basically if there is an ingredient with -ose on the end it may be a natural sugar product). I take an atkins vitamin and an alpha lipoic acid daily. (the alpha lipoic acid is an antioxidant that also aids in regulating glucose in the body) I haven't had a cold in about 2 years!!!!! and I am around sick people on a daily basis. Good luck!

I do agree with you guys about the dangers of taking even herbal diet pills....just thought I'd ask. Always looking for that magic pill....lol !!!

About the green tea....actually been considering that but dont know if I'll like the taste. Is it any good ??? And does anyone know if the green tea pills would be just as effective if I dont like the taste?

Thanks,

Re: green tea.
You won't know if you'll like the taste until you try it. I didn't like it at first but it grows on you. Drink it with a little sweetener and a twist of lemon.
Robert
PS Don't know about the pills.
