Default Is roller blading a good form of excercise?

I'm considering taking some lessons in roller blading so that I can do something fun and burn some fat off once per week with a group of people who roller blade around London. I do go to the gym and do cardio and resistance but I get bored with it sometimes and want to do something a bit different.

Does anyone know how many calories it's possible to burn off doing this type of excercise? i've never done it before but it doesn't look like you'd really be excercising strictly speaking as you are gliding along, right?

thanks for the help.

Go to this site and select 'Skating, in-line (roller blading)' from the 'Minutes/day of additional exercise (optional)' menu. The resultant report will have the calories burned by the selected exercise(s). Like all such calculators, the number of calories reported burned are higher than they really are.
