Hello Lisa!
First of all welcome to the SB forum and to SugarBusters.
As to your question:
Frequently Food Processors replace "Fat" in the Lite products with sugar.. so it is important to read the labels. Personally I don't eat "lite" anything. I have an issue with processed food but that is just me.
Try to limit 'added sugars' as much of possible. Added sugars are things like honey, sugar, brown sugar, molasses etc. (There is a list in the book.) If there are added sugars in the list of ingredients then choose foods that have 5 grams of sugar or less per serving.
However we don't need to be concerned about counting natural sugar grams such as the sugar (fructose) that is in fruit.
It is confusing at first but don't worry you will be a pro in no time.
