Question Poll - What annoys you about Low Carbing?

C'mon! Somethings gotta bug you about this WOE!

I personally hate flossing twice a day now because of all the meat I eat and Low Carb bashers annoy me when they tell me that I'm going to get heart disease or whatever else they read on the cover of a tabloid while they were waiting in line at the grocery store. *gives them TV Guide instead because it's more realistic*

Right on! In addition to my own procrastination and the Know-it-alls who really know nothing, the thing that annoys me the most (if I let myself think about it) is that when I was a kid--back in the olden days--we all "knew" that sugar and starches were fattening. Then, like lambs to the slaughter, we all started believing the current food pyramid--hey it's the government, so it must be right! Wrong!

What annoys me is that I am surrounded by sweet kind people.

Examples:

"Go on Robert, just a little bit of cake won't hurt you. It is my birthday".
And
"ONE bit of chocolate must be OK"
And
"Look what I've brough you back from my trip to..." (It's a box of chocolates)
And
"What do you mean you don't drink vodka? You're a man aren't you?"
And
"I've brought you in two of my home made chicken fillets stuffed with mushrooms, Robert cos I know you're on a diet" (they are coated with breadcrumbs!)
And
"I've made you a salad Robert" (main ingredient is sweetcorn!)

I know I must thank the Lord for my friends and being one of the few foreigners in this country people try to spoil me...but I just wish they would give up trying to FEED me!

I've wanted to use that puke one for ages

Regards to all,
Robert

I'm with Talon on this one.

I wish I started this years ago. I spent years low fat dieting - always hungry and never happy with myself when the WOE that fits me was right there.

Well, at least I will so appreciate it now.

It annoys me that years ago I discovered this diet when no one else even heard of it and it was the best thing I'd ever found, but yet, I left things slip and got to where I am today.

It also annoys me that it's not working now like it did when I was in my 30's.

That EVERYTHING has to be planned or else I end up with no dinner.

The lack of variety unless I cook

Having to say no to sugar; I make my own sweets but they are sooooooo far removed from the real stuff

Being different and not being able to eat at dinner parties etc.

I am having a negative time at the mo BTw!

The only thing that really frosts me, is,
looking at the lable on a new food that interests me,
only to find out, it has like 56 freaking carbs per serving
in it.
How in the heck can they do that to a normally
low carb food?
I have even emailed companies, asking them to lightn up
on the sugars.
Sugar is to sweeten, not to take up three quarters of the
product in the box. There ought to be a law, against
putting that much sugar in anything and calling it food.
I would never let a kid eat a sugar based cereal any more.

Thanks guys. Now I'm even more annoyed LOL

LOL Robert, if people did that to me I'd be like "here, have a ton of butter (or something they wouldn't eat) it won't kill you! " And vodka makes you a man? STUUUPID. I'd tell them to drink water "ya don't wanna get bloated do ya"

And ya, I'm also annoyed that I didn't start er attempt* it sooner, that I fell for the lowfat food guide, that I don't have much variety, so much cooking and preparing..eck lol

The thing that is bugging me lately is the lack of variety. I know there are many different ways to cook meat, and a great many different seasonings, but in the end its meat. I get tired of meat and veggies all the time. (and yes, i know there is eggs and cheese and all that stuff, but this is my gripe right now.)

Hi SlimShAdY

I live in Belarus, a Russian speaking country. Here is you're a man and you don't drink vodka with the other men you ain't got balls and people always eat chocolate when they drink tea. Butter? they'd love it. Everyone eats it all the time - margarine is almost non existant. Are they fat? No they aren't. And anyway I can't be rude to people there are only 8 Brits in this country and most of them are not the kind of people I want as friends.

Hi acipenser,

What about fish? Soy pancakes? Try some new things. It doesn't have to be boring.

Regards to all,
Robert

For me it's convienence, having to do planning. There could be worse things. It's still the best diet for me.

Having to be organized is a little annoying. It's a good think I like to cook.

...and I'm with Sandy Rile: I get really annoyed with the amount of totally unnecessary sugar and carbs in common foods like sauces and dressings.

Having to prepare everything in advance - especially taking lunch to work.
No decent snacks (that don't need preparing)
My shopping bill has doubled
Lack of variety

Not telling anyone I'm doing Atkins cos the response is always....oooo that's dangerous isn't it...straight after telling me how good I look lately !!!
