I'm a new member and been off/on low carb since May 2003.
I only lost 6 lbs since I wasn't sticking to any plan.
I'm the type of person that has to write down everything that goes into my mouth and need a mental boost to keep going with the diet.
I had an image of myself as being slightly overwieght, and when I looked in the mirror I see myself the way I want too...still looking pretty good.
Until this month when I looked at photos taken while sailing.
Urgh that couldn't be me...my mother is visiting and I told her it was a terrible picture, that I didn't look like that.
She just looked at me and said "yes you do".
That did it.
She has always had been heavy, while I had always been slim..until 40 yrs of age.
Then the 3-4 lb per year accumulated to an extra 36 lbs over the 9 years.
At 49 yrs (in two months anyhow) I now weight 193.
The main motivator is my mother is down to 174 lbs.
So, anyone want to start this week with a new challange.
It should go for at least 8 weeks.
Is there a place on this forum to post food diaries and weight ins?
