Default Atkins in "Closer"

There's an article in 'Closer' magazine this week: 'Does the Atkins diet really work'? It has a few case histories - some positive and some negative. It does have some misinformation [it says that you can't have alcohol or fruit and 'you're not allowed carbs for the first 14 days']. Their nutritionist says that you can only lose 4lb of fat on Atkins and anything over 4lb is all water, which I find hard to believe!

Thanks for posting this. I've seen the adverts on ITV for the magazine.

As you say there is misinformation there, however if people don't do their research there always will be.

Perhaps what she is talking about is weight loss in the first week/fortnight. Certainly I would imagine that at least 50% of your initial weight loss is water as this is what is associated with the carbs you had in your body at the start. However, once the first couple of weeks are over you will be losing body fat and if you don't exercise some body muscle as well. Of course, you are still losing water as well as your body is made up of a lot of water.
