Default Total Carb vs. Carb without fiber

I see the recipes give total carb count at the bottom of the recipe and it also gives a carb would without fiber, which is a lower count. I am not sure I am understanding the difference. Could someone explain please? Is the fiber something I have to take out of the recipe? I guess I just want to know, which one do I count if I am counting carbs for a daily count? Thanks. Susan

When this site was founded, many moons ago, some Atkins followers were not subtracting the fiber from the carbohydrates as it was not that obvious in the book. With the newest edition out, it was much clearer and Atkins followers are now happily subtracring fiber. Subtracting fiber has always been part of the Protein Power plan.

So yes, you do subtract the fiber from the carb count for effective carbohydrates and it's what you use for your carb counting.
