Default deli meats..?

Hi everybody~

This is probably going to sound like a stupid question, but would someone please clarify this for me?

Lunch meats--There's a great deli at out BI-Lo and it would be a welcome change to be able to eat the sliced deli meat if it's allowed. I've been grilling A LOT of hamburgers and chicken and the deli meat would be very simple, easier to take on the road for work, and would offer a lot of variety.

So, can I have it?

If I can--what do I need to look out for when purchasing it?

If not-can you offer some alternatives?

Thank you
Thank you
Thank you!

Jan

Jan,

You can have luncheon meat on Atkins Induction. I would check with the deli to see a nutrition label - make sure there are no added sugars and/or fillers. Carbs can be quite high on honey hams and the like.

Do take into consideration that many deli meats are processed and contain an excess of sodium as that can be a problem for some. I eat Boar's Head deli meats regularly and have not had a problem.

Best of luck! Paris

I never had a problem with deli meats, but be aware that some people are stalled by the nitrates in them.

Boar's head deli meats are quite good. I believe most if not all Boar's head are nitrate free, but be sure to ask. Deli meats are great for roll ups with cheese in the middle or some nice veggies.

If you ask the deli counter person, they can easily give you the breakdown -but yes, these are fine on the plan - as long as the nitrates etc..are ok.

I usually dont have a problem eating deli meats. I try to by Boar's Head out here in NY. If its a brand that I'm not familiar with I usually ask to read the label. Be carful of the sugars nitrates, fillers as others hve said.

the only problem that I usually have with deli meat is that I gain water weight from it which can be frustrating
