Question dairy free help

though I've suspected for some time that I'd be healthier eating dairy free (I'm pretty convinced by the neaderthin-type arguments), I'm planning on easing into that WOE over the next few weeks.

but...! I have no idea how to keep up my calories and fat in making this change. I'll keep deviled eggs on hands to replace cheese snacks. I really don't like nuts very much. I'll try, but I'm not at all certain I can eat upwards of a pound of meat per day. Anyone eating paleo or for candida--or just anyone with creative ideas--have some advice for me?

Thanks in advance!

Have you checked out the first Low Carb Project Raz? THe journals are in the older ones in the Group Projects in the Journal forum. We had two dairy free days a week. As I recall, I was relatively dairy free during that whole time.

With me and dairy, I've found that certain dairy products are my nemesis. It's one of the things - along with sugar and AS - that can set me off on a binge.

But I know what you mean about the Neanderthin thing. It is LC in it's purest form, and very appealing!

Hi Razzle,

I went dairy free about 8 weeks ago, due to going on an anti-candida diet. I had withdrawals from cheese and cream, as bad as any carb withdrawal, so I KNOW they are definitely bad for me!
The only dairy I eat now is butter, as it is basically pure fat, no lactose.
The way I keep calories and fat up is to eat home made mayo on salads, raw vegges, etc Garlic butter on steaks, olive oil and lemon juice dressings, and I eat quite alot of coconut cream in curries (Pre bought sauce bases).
What I have found is since I'm not eating dairy ( and other things I'm not allowed on the anti-candida diet) the weight has been falling off, and I have upped my carbs to between 35 and 55 a day.

thanks so much, LC buddies. I'll check out those threads, Karen. Angela, what you're doing is exactly what I had in mind. I have candida symptoms (oh boy, does a cup of coffee bring it on!) and have had a niggling thought that perhaps the candida helps make me a weight-loss "turtle" Some weight loss would sure be a nice reward for giving up that dairy, but even if I don't get that, I think it'd be a good thing to stick with for awhile, just to see what else results. I made some home-made blender hollandaise last week and that works well on meats, so I'll use it, too.
