Default Cheese and Vegie Questions..

1. Atkins says to have cheese on inducion..Uh, 1. I'm lactose intolarant so can't eat too much..and 2. the only kind I can eat is American Cheese....But I think its proccessed...Is it? And is it bad if I don't eat that everyday?

2. Your allowed 20g of carbs a day..BUT it says you can only get them from vegies (except like 4 from cheese..but I don't get that either as mentioned above)...BUT your only allowed 3 cups a day....I eat 3 cups of salad everyday with 10 olives, and It comes out to only 9 carbs....So Now i'm basically eating 9 carbs a day...

lol um ok, Im' really confused about these 2 things...

slim, definitely get those 20 carbs as veggies. You can have a lot more than 2 & 3/4 cups a day, if they're all LC veggies and raw. I sometimes eat a lunch salad consisting of a whole bag of organic baby spinach...only 10 ECCs (less fiber), filling, great with bacon crumbled on top, and darned good for me! Go with the actual carb counts, not the general rule (which I think Atkins offered for those who don't want to bother with carb counters)

American cheese is slightly higher in carbs than aged cheese, but also don't feel compelled to eat any. Dairy doesn't do any of us any special health good, probably 50% of the earth's population is lactose intolerant, and we certainly dont need it! To replace it as snacks, try boiled eggs and homemade jerky instead.

HTH!

Slim......

Cheese is simply one of the OPTIONS to eat. There is no need for you to eat any. There are a couple of meats that I don't care for, so I just don't eat them. There are a lot of other protein foods to choose from so it's not a problem.

I suspect if you put your daily food intake into Fitday.com, you'd find that you are getting more than 9 carbs a day. A mug of decaf tea has a carb and so do other things that we wouldn't suspect. That's why you are allowed up to 20 a day.
